Exuding the energy and vivacity of Harlem!

The upper Manhattan neighborhood, whose name derived from a Netherland city called Haarlem, became notable during the 1920s and 1930s due to the Harlem Renaissance. Harlem became the culture center of music, dance, literature, and political expression for a new generation of African Americans fighting for civil rights and dignity.

We stand in the shadow of this great history. We want to remember, celebrate, and honor the greatness of Harlem and hope that its legacy continues to touch future generations.
